identity

I have looked at the way people's identity is portaid so I will be able to use this in my trailer. The way people dress could show the things they like and they way they will act e.g. someone who dresses in black cloths and has pearcings are normally associated with being gothic. For my film film trailer i will have the people who are gangsters dressed in suits and ties to show their importance and maybe have them smoking a cigar to show power.

music

I have been looking at some free music from sites such as
http://freeplaymusic.com/ and http://www.freesound.org/
I was mainly using freeplaymusic because I thought it was easier to use and there were a lot of different song on the sight. I liked this song and I thought it would be good for building tension because it feels fast paced. from my research of the lock stock and two smoking barrels, snatch and layer cake trailers I have found that this is what will make an effective gangster film trailer. If the music is creating tension this means that the trailer has the audiences attention and the audience will be focusing more on the trailer than if the music was too slow and boring.

settings

One of the main settings in our trailer was doing to be a barn that was in the process of being built. The last time I had a picture of the barn was when it was only half built with no doors or windows fitted. The barn is now built but hasn't had any finishing touches done to it yet so it still looks like an abandand barn or a construction site which is perfect because most interigation scenes or drugs deals are done in these sorts of barns.
This is a picture of what the barn used to look like

This is what the barn looks like now

storyboard

I have made two different story boards which both will have the feel of the lock stock and two smoking barrels and snatch. I think that we could also use the way the clips have been edited in lock stock and two smoking barrels to give quite a fast but comfortable feeling. We could also use the way the snatch has been edited for an even faster feel which is uncomfortable. depending on the right music and the way they clips look we will decide which speed we want our trailer to be.
The is the first idea that I had of the storyboard.
This is the second idea

music

I have looked at different music that has been played in the British gangster film trailers to get inspiration on what is the best type of music to be put on our trailer.

lock stock and two smoking barrels;
At the start the music is slow while the main group of four friends are being introduced. The music is slow and relaxed as if to say they are normal and nothing to worry about.
Then the music changes at a card game to faster pace to build tension and show that the card game is important. Then there is exaggerated sound of the card being put down to show how important that card was.
The music then changes to more high pitched sound to show that something bad has happened.
Then the music changes to more happy faster song to suggest they might have a way of getting the money that they lost. the music then changes to faster paced music to suggest that it is violent with a lot of action.
Then one of the four friends says 'were on' and the music changed again to slower party music as if they have been successful so they can celebrate.

layer cake;
this film trailer has fast paced music running through the action and no music when the chef is speaking.

snatch;
The first song is very fast paced to show how fast pace the film is and how much action there is in it.
Then the music changes to a wild west type song and it starts to introduce the main characters. This gives a feeling that all the main characters will be fighting against each other.

the business;
this had a very odd soundtrack being played through the trailer compared to what you would expect from a gangster film trailer. The song is video killed the radio star. This song hasn't really got much to do with the film but shows that they are like normal people who play tennis and yet they are shooting each other and killing other people.

Ideologies in our Movie Trailor

Ideologies are a set of ideas or aims, a way of looking at somithing. Many philosophers beliaved that ideologies are behind the social class structure. I feel this is important when making our Movie Trailor as in the gang their will be a hiarchey of class, the "top boys" who run the gang and then those who work for them who do all the dirty work.

Eugne Ionesco said that "Ideologies seperate us. Dreams and anguish bring us togetehr".
I think this is relevent to our aspiration audience as our target audience is any male and not aimed at just them from a certain social class. Males at the top of the socal scale will be able to relate to the people at teh top of the ganag as like them they are sucessful and have peole working for them, and the people at the bottom of the social scale will be able to realte to the charatcters at the bottom of the gangs social hiararchey, they will dream that they ould one day be at the top of the class and empathise woth the charatcers who are trying to get there.

Applying Stereotypes to our Trailor

In our trailer hopefully our stereotypes will not be false as they will show all the characteristics that modern day English Gangsters have in other British Gangster films, for example in the Snatch and Lock Stock and two smoking barrels the characters are wearing suits and dress smart. We will incorporate this into our trailer so the audience will know that they are British gangsters through the way they dress.

Also our stereotypes can cast a positive look on British Gangsters, this can be shown, by maybe having them in shot in a fight or running round with a good away from the police and in the next shot helping an old lady with her bag if she drops it, showing that although their gangsters they only hurt people that have done something against them or their family. By having this sequence in our trailer it also may break the typical stereotypes surrounding British gangsters.

Our characters also may be both simple and complex, by having the main character at the start of the trailer beating someone up, showing the audience that these just a common thug, but the towards the end of the trailer we learn that he hates his thuggish ways and wants to leaving the British gangster scene, but cant through family pressures, this can be shown through him going to Church and confessing his sins to god,showing he wants to repent for his sins, but then he gets a call form someone in his gang and he has to leave and go "do a job".
